WHAT IS A CIMT?
A Certified Infant Massage Teacher (CIMT) is a parent educator who has taken the Liddle Kidz Foundation certification course, completed out-of-class practicum and passed a written exam.
During their training the CIMT has learned about:
- The history & global use of infant massage as a parenting practice
- Infant massage techniques and methodology
- Massage Stroke Adaptations for infants with special healthcare needs, babies born prematurely, strokes for common childhood discomforts such as Colic, Gas, Constipation, Congestion and Teething
- Recognizing Infant’s verbal and Non-verbal communication
- Current infant massage research and how best to stay in touch with current research developments
- Benefits for both infants and caregivers
- Teaching and facilitating skills
- Nurturing Touch for the Growing Child
- Considerations for providing classes to families of all kinds, including cultural considerations for families from varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, extended families, stepfamilies, grandparents raising children, adoptive families, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) parents and teenage parents
The Liddle Kidz Foundation is recognized internationally as the premiere children’s nurturing touch organization and has provided training for professionals and families worldwide. This is why Liddle Kidz professionals are considered the best at providing the most appropriate care for child and family
A CIMT will teach you how to provide massage for your own infant or young child. A CIMT does not provide massage for your child, they teach you - so you can provide nurturing touch during class sessions and on your own in the comfort of your own home.
HOW SHOULD I CHOOSE A CIMT?
First, you want to find a CIMT who serves an area that is geographically convenient for you. This way it is easy for you to attend classes offered, or ask the CIMT to teach you privately at home. It is also a good idea to review the individual CIMT’s background to find out if they have special training in a specific area of interest for your family. And, with all choices that affect your family, an interview or phone discussion is a nice idea to make sure that the individual CIMT is the right choice for you. If your child has any special healthcare needs it is a good idea to consult your family physician to be sure massage is appropriate for your child.

WHAT IS A CPMT?
A Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT) is a professional hands-on practitioner who has taken the Liddle Kidz Foundation comprehensive certification course, passed verified in-class practicum and a written exam.
During their training the CPMT has learned about:
- Pediatric massage techniques and methodology
- Massage Stroke Adaptations for children with special healthcare needs including specific adaptations for children with ADD/ADHD, Asthma, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Cystic Fibrosis, Down Syndrome, Hearing & Visual Loss, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Muscular Dystrophy, Spina Bifida and Terminal Illness to name just a few diagnoses
- Age appropriate approach and communication
- Overview of pediatric growth and development
- Current relevant massage research and how best to stay in touch with current research developments
- Benefits of pediatric massage
- Considerations for providing massage therapy for children of all backgrounds, including cultural considerations
- Medical, healthcare and parental consent considerations
The Liddle Kidz Foundation is recognized internationally as the premiere children’s nurturing touch organization and has provided training for professionals and families worldwide. This is why Liddle Kidz professionals are considered the best at providing the most appropriate care for child and family.
A CPMT possesses the ability to provide hands-on touch therapy through an existing certification or license obtained according to their state, province and local guidelines. The CPMT course has been taken as an adjunct to this professional certification to provide education and training so the CPMT is comfortable providing touch therapy for children with specific healthcare needs. A CPMT can provide massage for your child, as well as show you some simple techniques you can use in the comfort of your own home.
HOW SHOULD I CHOOSE A CPMT?
First, you want to find a CPMT who serves an area that is geographically convenient for you. This way it is easy for you to bring your child to visit the practitioner at their office, or to provide the sessions privately at home. It is also a good idea to review the individual CPMT’s background to find out if they have special training in a specific area of interest for your family. And, with all choices that affect your family, an interview or phone discussion is a nice idea to make sure that the individual CPMT is the right choice for you. If your child has any special healthcare needs it is a good idea to consult your family physician to be sure massage is appropriate for your child.
