"After years of service to the massage profession and for impacting the field in a direction few have chosen, working with youth, it is with great pleasure and gratitude that I acknowledge Tina Allen as an Inductee into the 2009 Massage Therapy Hall of Fame.", Mike Hinkle – Founder
The Massage Therapy Hall of Fame was created to honor and acknowledge the many contributions of those who have, and continue to work tirelessly to further the profession of massage therapy.
Annually, honorees are inducted into the Hall of Fame during The World Massage Festival. The Inaugural Event took place Saturday, November 4th, 2006 at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds in Pensacola, Florida. The idea was developed when Florida Governor Jeb Bush asked for the promotion of massage in the state. Mike Hinkle, owner of Pensacola Massage Center and Curator for the Festival dreamed up the idea and set the mission statement into action.
The World Massage Festival is a time for Massage Therapists and Professional Bodyworkers to feel good about their profession, have a platform from which to showcase their talents and to meet with other like-minded professionals during workshops, educational courses and networking opportunities.
The World Massage Festival mission is
- To honor those who have been the Bridge Builders for our profession
- To educate the general public about the benefits of massage therapy.
- To provide quality educational opportunities - at an affordable price - for therapists.
- To provide networking opportunities for massage therapists.
- To do all of this and still have fun!
